Saving Species

Saving Species

Around the world, many species face growing challenges to survival. At Point Defiance Zoo & Aquarium, we work with partners to support conservation efforts that protect vulnerable wildlife and help populations recover.

By connecting people to these species and their stories, we aim to inspire action and create a future where wildlife can thrive.

Save Tigers

Tigers are among the most iconic species on the planet, yet they face serious threats in the wild. Poaching and human encroachment on tiger habitat are pushing these magnificent animals toward extinction. Through conservation partnerships, we support efforts to protect tiger habitats and help ensure a future for them.

Save Sharks

Sharks play a vital role in keeping ocean ecosystems healthy, but many species are at risk. There are over 500 species of sharks, and each is a crucial part of complex and amazing ocean ecosystems. Our work supports shark conservation through research, partnerships, and public awareness.

Help Red Wolves

American Red Wolves are one of the most endangered mammals in North America. Today 50 approved facilities work together as part of the Association of Zoos and Aquariums’ Saving Animals from Extinction American Red Wolf program to ensure Red Wolf survival. The zoo population has grown to about 280 wolves, but there are only around 28-31 in the wild.

Protect Polar Bears
and slow climate change

Polar bears are facing rapid changes to their Arctic habitat due to climate change. Through our partnership with Polar Bears International, we support efforts to protect polar bears and raise awareness about the challenges they face. Join us in continuing the climate conversation and find opportunities to be a part of the collective solutions in your community.
