Accessibility at the Zoo

Point Defiance Zoo & Aquarium strives to provide an environment that is welcoming and accessible to all visitors. Whether you’re exploring the different animal habitats or participating in our programs, we’re dedicated to ensuring every guest can connect with wildlife and nature.

Accessible Pathways

We designed our Zoo grounds to be ADA-accessible. You’ll find smooth, flat surfaces and elevators to easily take you to different animal habitats.

Caregiver Admission

We provide a complimentary ticket for a 1:1 caregiver who is required to assist a guest with disabilities during their visit. These tickets are not available online. The caregiver and guest will need to check in at the front gate for the caregiver to receive their admission ticket.

American Sign Language

American Sign Language (ASL) Interpreters will be present on select dates this summer (May 18, June 9, June 20, July 13, July 24, August 11, August 22, September 21) to interpret the performances at the Wild Wonders Outdoor Theater and Bugs Alive! programs. ASL Interpreters will be located near the stage and designated seating will provide the best sight lines to follow the interpretation and the action on stage.
