Volunteer - It's an Adventure!
Volunteers are a vital part of what makes Point Defiance Zoo & Aquarium an exciting and educational experience for our guest. We offer volunteer opportunities in many areas of the zoo & aquarium. If you have a passion for animals, conservation, and the environment, then Point Defiance is the place for you. Please check out the volunteering avenues below to see which one fits your interests.

Youth Volunteers

Youth Volunteering provides students between the ages of 11 and 18 an opportunity to increase and share their knowledge of animals, conservation and the environment while gaining valuable volunteer experience in a zoo and aquarium.

Group Service Projects
PLEASE NOTE: Due to strict animal husbandry guidelines and safety issues, there is no animal contact or inside exhibit work with the animals. This is for the safety and well-being of the animals and your group members.
Adult Volunteers
Adult volunteers assist with a variety of activities around the zoo from on-grounds education to greeting guests at the front entrance. Visit our volunteer openings to see what opportunities are currently available. To apply for a current opening, complete our online application.
