for individuals with disabilities and their families
Enjoy an inclusive event designed especially for individuals with disabilities and their families. Explore the zoo after hours, meet animals up close, and take part in fun activities throughout the grounds.
Disability Adventure Day Highlights
• A chance to see/touch dive equipment and shark biofacts, talk with dive staff, and see the Eye-to-Eye Shark Dive encounter building
• Wave "hello" to divers in both aquariums
• See our polar bear and sea otters receive special enrichment
• A chance to meet with Animal Ambassadors!

Accessible experiences
During Disability Adventure Day, guests will have a unique opportunity to explore the Eye-to-Eye Shark Dive behind the scenes. Enjoy a guided tour of the dive building to see the specialized equipment that makes this underwater adventure accessible, including the Hoyer lift that safely lowers guests who use wheelchairs into the water.

ASL Guided Tours
American Sign Language Guided Tours are included with admission to the event. These tours are an accessibility support for guests who are Deaf or hard-of-hearing and their companions. ASL Interpreters will accompany a Point Defiance Zoo & Aquarium Educator who will share stories and information about the habitats and animals. Join us at 5:00 p.m. for a tour of the Tropical Reef Aquarium and the Asian Forest Sanctuary or at 6:00 p.m. for a tour of Red Wolf Woods, Arctic Tundra, and Rocky Shores. Each tour will be about an hour long and will meet in the Pacific Rim Plaza.
