Conservation Grant Program

For the care and protection of nature

Point Defiance Zoo & Aquarium and Northwest Trek Wildlife Park partner with conservation organizations, researchers, and community groups to support projects that protect wildlife and wild places both locally and globally. Through our Conservation Grant Program, we invest in collaborative projects that create meaningful conservation impact, engage communities, and inspire care for nature.

These grants are made possible with support from the Dr. Holly Reed Conservation Fund and the David E. Ellis Conservation Fund.

Meaningful impact
with sustainable design

We support projects that create measurable conservation outcomes, whether that means mitigating threats, supporting species recovery, or contributing valuable data. Projects should be designed to minimize environmental impact and, when possible, help communities reduce their own environmental footprint.

Community-centered conservation
with stories that inspire action

Lasting conservation is built with people. Priority is given to projects that are co-designed with affected communities and that create opportunities for local engagement and action. We look for projects that can engage our communities and our guests, highlight shared successes, and inspire stewardship for nature.

Collaboration
beyond funding

This program is about partnership. We value projects that create opportunities for collaboration with staff across Point Defiance Zoo & Aquarium and Northwest Trek Wildlife Park, from conservation science to education, storytelling, and community outreach.
