Bowling for Rhinos

Bowling for Rhinos is designed to raise critical funds to help save rhinos and other animals in Africa and Asia. Presented by the Point Defiance chapter of the American Association of Zoo Keepers, it includes a bowling pin art contest, an online silent auction and an in-person celebration. Join us in raising funds for conservation efforts!
Help save rhinos
Bowling for Rhinos, presented annually by the American Association of Zoo Keepers, has raised over $9 million since 1990. Our Point Defiance chapter has raised over $136,000. All funds go directly to rhino conservation efforts. Bowling for Rhinos includes a Bowling Art contest, an online auction, and an in-person Rowdy for Rhinos event.

Get together at 7 Seas Brewery in Tacoma on August 24 to celebrate the conclusion of the event! A portion of sales will go to rhino conservation.
NEW GOAT KIDS ARRIVE

There are new kids on the block! Goat kids Kettle, Biscuit, Hopper, Crumpet, Daisy Mae, Rhubarb, and Thistle, named by their keepers, arrived at Point Defiance Zoo & Aquarium on Saturday. PENGUINS ENTER NESTING SEASON

It’s that time of year again! Our Magellanic penguins have found their mates and are in the middle of nesting season. Earlier this month, keepers observed our penguin pairs snuggling in their nests. It wasn’t much longer before we saw the eggs being kept warm. Each year, keepers prepare Penguin Point for nesting season. Wildlife Champions Explore Oak Tree Park

They have thick trunks and twisting branches, like winding pathways through time. Their acorns have fallen to the ground, easy pickings for the gray squirrels, birds, and deer that call Oak Tree Park in South Tacoma their home.
