Calling all youth
Find solutions, make friends.
Join us for an exciting day filled with inspiring speakers and opportunities to meet others who care about protecting our ocean. Get involved in community science and learn about conservation careers. Create your own ocean conservation project and apply for funding to plan and execute it.
Speakers and workshops
to inspire your own ocean project.
Experts will lead workshops on a variety of topics including community science, career development, marine science, community programs and storytelling. Special experiences will include touching sea urchins and other marine animals in our Tidal Touch Zone, meeting an animal ambassador and chatting with keepers.
Open to all youth
ages 12-18
The Youth Ocean Conservation Summit is hosted and organized by youth volunteers from Point Defiance Zoo & Aquarium.

Meet Our Keynote Speaker
Malik Johnson will share his career journey from a Point Defiance Zoo youth volunteer to his current role as a Seattle Aquarium Assistant Aquarist. He will also offer insight into why he chose a profession featuring ocean conservation.
