There are lots of interesting animals right under our noses! From bugs to owls and spiders to snakes we will investigate the animals that live in our backyards and spend some time exploring the wilds of Point Defiance Park.

Each day we'll learn something special about how the zoo runs area by area. Find out how exhibits work, what we do to care for and enrich the animals' lives, and of course, make new animal friends during surprise close encounters!

Under the Sea

From kelp to clams and seals to seahorses, we'll cover it all! Discover how important oceans are, make shell prints, fell shark skin and explore the beach at low tide in this splashing sea adventure.

Walrus Whisperers

Learn the secrets of this ocean giant, meet the zookeepers who train our three magnificent and intelligent walruses, prepare some frozen treats for your new animal friends and meet some of the other critters that live nearby.
In the Zone

This camp is a kid's dream come true! Spend all day in and around the Kids' Zone exhibit, meet lemurs, meerkats and more as we search out all the animals in the ultimate kids' exhibit.
Animal Trackers

Discover the secrets of tracking animals through games and activities, then head out into the forest to put your knowledge to the test. Meet cool forest animals up close and make your own plaster cast of a real animal track to take home.
Fabulous Families

Frolic around the zoo exploring our fabulous families! Learn all about our social animals with hands-on activities, animal observations and close encounters that spotlight our unusual animal families.
Schooling Around
July 2, 9 am - 4:30 pm
School may be out for us, but some animals at the zoo are in schools year-round! Learn about fascinating fish who spend their whole lives in "class" and the animals that they're trying to fool.
All-Day Adventures
Fees: $200 members/$230 non-members
