Point Defiance Zoo & Aquarium

Education

We'll bring the Zoo to you!

The Zoo's outreach team  travels all over Pierce County and surrounding areas. We would love to introduce you to some of our Animal Ambassadors! We'll visit schools, day care centers, seniors communities, libraries and other public sites.

If you would like a structured Wildlife Lesson please choose from the chart below. These  classroom programs include a life science systems presentation, one live animal and an opportunity for students to examine animal bio-facts such and skulls and pelts. Wildlife Lessons last between 45 and 60 minutes. Click here for program descriptions.

If you are interested in something less formal you may want to choose an Animal Encounter. During an Animal Encounter participants will observe and compare 2-3 different animals, ask questions and handle bio-facts (as available). Depending on the number of animals that you request, an Animal Encounter can engage participants for 30-45 minutes.

We can only accommodate a maximum of 30 participants per lesson or encounter.

To begin the scheduling process please call our reservationist at 253-591-5333 or email us at reserve@pdza.org.

Our outreach programs support the Washington State Science Standards with a focus on adaptations and conservation. Wildlife Lesson Descriptions.
