New lemurs make their debut!

Three black and white ruffed lemurs are joining our lemur exhibit in Kids' Zone. The two males were born in 2011 and the female, pictured here, was born in 1994.

This species is native to the incredibly diverse island of Madagascar. Over 80 percent of the plant and animal species of the island are endemic, meaning that they exist nowhere else on Earth.

Watch the new lemur troop this weekend as they get settled in their new home--the exhibit that currently houses our black lemurs and ring-tailed lemurs.

Did you know that lemurs can hang from branches with their feet and will even eat while hanging upside down?
