Meet Our Meerkat Kits

MORE MISCHIEF IN THE MEERKAT MANSION.

Make room for the newest kits from mama meerkat, Amelia! Lilo, Mushu, Grimsby, Basil and Fidget made their debut on exhibit on Monday, March 18. The kits seem to love exploring their new habitat and making (adorable) mischief with the rest of the gang.

Slightly older kits Frick and Frack from Darwin's group – are now on exhibit in Kids' Zone. Don't delay: everyone grows fast around meerkat mansion!

Usually, meerkat kits weigh about the same as two-thirds of a cup of water at birth. Adult meerkats are typically 1 ½ to 2 pounds each and around 14 inches long, plus the length of their tails.

They are very social, and live together as families, known as gangs. Frick and Frack bring the number of oh-so-cute meerkats in the Darwin gang to seven. Lilo, Mushu, Grimsby, Basil and Fidget join the other nine meerkats in the Amelia gang for a total of 13; the Huxley gang has five.

So head on out to the zoo this weekend. Hail, hail, the gangs are all here. And our newest kits are part of them!
