Green Team initiatives
Point Defiance Zoo and Aquarium strives to provide resources for our staff to incorporate green practices at work and in the community. To support that mission the Green Team offers multiple venues and programs.The Green Life lecture series hosts speakers for lunch time presentations. Recent topics included green building, healthy homes, Tacoma power green program, heath fairs, permaculture, Earth Day fair, toxic free chemicals.
"Seeing the Green" is a green product library available for staff to check out. This gives staff a chance to try environmentally friendly products as alternatives.
R-squared tours are tours done by the Green Team to look for ways to incorporate green practices in every department.
Waste Free Holidays is a county-wide initiative to encourage environmentally friendly products or experiences for gifts.
From the planet is a program in which cards are placed in employees workstations to reward or encourage green practices.
Car-Harmony is designed to encourage carpooling among staff.
Recycling awareness campaign includes signage in each department area about what items can be recycled.
