We're celebrating St. Patrick's Day with special green enrichment treats and toys for animals throughout the zoo.
Animal Enrichment Schedule:
11am Shark feed (Sat) Shark dive (Sun)
11am Sea otters will receive green toys and ice treats
12pm Polar bears will lick icing from viewing windows and receive green toys and ice treats
12pm Asian small-clawed otters will receive fish treats
12:30pm Tigers will receive clover-shaped 'meatcicles'
1pm Gibbons will receive Lucky Charms popsicles
1pm Elephants will receive green watermelon treats
1:30 pm Herald the Dog will be dressed in green attire
2pm Red wolves will receive green treats
Enrichment encourages animals to use their natural abilities and behaviors to interact with their environment. It offers the opportunity for animals to make choices and experience things like they would in the wild. Animal enrichment can be a special toy, food treat or unusual smell. Zoo staff can even change the surroundings of an animal's exhibit area for enrichment purposes.
